Egyptian Drug Authority Responds to 1,230 Pharmaceutical Inquiries in 2024

The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) responded to 1,230 pharmaceutical inquiries in 2024 as part of its strategy to assist citizens and healthcare providers through its medicine information service. This service covers all matters related to medicines, pharmaceutical preparations, and their optimal use.
According to the EDA’s annual 2024 performance report, the goal of this initiative is to provide accurate, evidence-based information on medicines, raise community awareness about safe usage, and educate both patients and healthcare providers to ensure optimal drug utilization.
In this context, the authority launched several initiatives, including:
- Pharmaceutical Care – Pharmacovigilance (معًا نحو دواء آمن)
- “Your Medicine… Your Safety” (دوائك… أمانك)
- “An Aware Pharmacist, An Aware Society” (صيدلي واعي.. مجتمع واعي)
- Knowledge-Driven Minds (عقول تقودها المعرفة)
Additionally, the authority handled 4,570 inquiries and complaints through the Unified Government Complaints System in 2024. Out of these, 4,535 cases were fully resolved (representing a completion rate of over 99.23%), while 35 cases (0.77%) remain under review. This figure represents nearly double the number of inquiries and complaints received in 2023, when 2,275 cases were processed and resolved.
