The Ministry of Health and Population announced the addition of 26 new medicines to the updated drug list of the General Authority for Health Insurance, bringing the total to 860 medicines.

The ministry added that in 2024, decisions were issued to enroll 15 million new citizens under the Health Insurance system; a 28% increase in beneficiaries raising the total number of insured Egyptians to over 69 million.

It further noted the implementation of a vertical expansion plan that established 96 evening clinics to improve service quality and reduce overcrowding, with 3.9 million visits recorded during the year. Additionally, contracts were signed with 15 private clinics, bringing the total beneficiaries under health insurance to 69,669,398, covering 69.7% of Egypt’s population.
